An Outdoor Fireplace in Fulham
This small town garden (5 x 5 metre) was designed to extend the owner’s kitchen in a seamless transition.
Entertain by the fireplace !
The bioethanol fireplace is the centrepiece. As seasons change and days get shorter, the flickering flames of the outdoor fireplace give a warming and appealing atmosphere to the garden and these can be appreciated from behind the kitchen bifolds all year round.
The clean line of the built-in cantilevered bench adds to the contemporary feel of the patio.
Same porcelain tiles are laid inside and out to make the space feel bigger.
Lighting
Dramatic lighting is a key feature of this garden. Adjustable spike spots uplighting the trees and the brick wall, a LED strip under the floating bench all create an ambient glow.
Mediterranean Planting
The owner is very keen on gardening and asked for a great variety of scented flowers and colours.
Lush mediterranean planting softens the strong structure of the space.
The olive tree is underplanted with evergreen shrubs and perennials.
A rose and evergreen jasmine are trained to climb on the walls and are beautifully scented in the summer.
A small area of the courtyard was dedicated to the children for them to grow their favourite vegetables in timber boxes.
